Bill Marames The Arent Fox family
Arent Fox's esteemed colleague, Bill Marames, passed away unexpectedly on December 7, 2006 of an apparent heart attack. We participate in the Lawyers Have Heart 10K Run to honor his memory and his contribution to the Arent Fox family. For many years, Bill was a partner at Arent Fox specializing in Intellectual Property law. He excelled as a partner at the firm, and was widely recognized in the legal community as a trademark law expert. But aside from being a very accomplished and well regarded attorney, Bill was a friend to many in and outside of the firm, and generous to a fault. He spent countless hours mentoring younger attorneys and legal staff. He valued family and diversity, and especially loved lightening tense situations with his dry wit. In short, Bill was "one of a kind," and is sorely missed by the Arent Fox family. While he would hate anyone making a fuss over him or his memory, we are proud to be running in his honor.

Marjorie KampelmanFried Frank
Fried Frank would like to honor Marjorie Kampelman, spouse of retired Partner Max Kampelman, who passed away on April 19. Mrs. Kampelman's varied positions involved work in the 1940's labor movement with the Congress of Industrial Organizations' War Relief Committee and as Education Director of the Wisconsin International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union. Upon her arrival in Washington, she became active in the Women's Equity Action League an active proponent of local school desegration.

John Sedlak Fried Frank
Fried Frank is proud to participate in the LHH Run and Fun Walk in memory of John Sedlak. John, a legal assistant at Fried Frank for over two decades, passed away unexpectedly on April 9, 2007 from a sudden heart attack. John was known at Fried Frank for his dedication, diligence, and passion for precision, as well as for his love for his wife Teresa and daughter Zoë. John was a friend to many in the firm, and will be dearly missed.

Jane Shipp Fried Frank
Fried Frank is proud to participate in the LHH Lawyers Have Heart event in memory of Jane Shipp, who died suddenly of a heart attack on May 10 and who was sister to our Partner Dixie Johnson.
Jane embodied a spirit of love for family, work and community and was passionate about helping people achieve their goals. During her career as a teacher, she brought education to the Navajo Indians, the Bureau of Indian Affairs and Kirtland Air Force Base where she served as Chief Education Officer and was responsible for introducing several university programs to the base. She also served on the New Mexico Commission of Higher Education. In addition, she was named by the Governor of New Mexico as an Outstanding New Mexico Woman for her contributions to education in the state.
Her community and her family mourn her loss.

Stanley D. Jones Washington Metropolitan Area Corporate Counsel Association (WMACCA)
Stanley D. Jones, Senior VP and General Counsel of Colonial Parking, Inc., died of heart-lung disease on May 3, 2007. Stan was a lovely, gentle man, and an excellent lawyer, who participated in many WMACCA programs and events, particularly those involving the Employment and Labor Forum. He began working at Colonial in 1967 in the claims department. The organization sent him to law school at GWU, from which he graduated in 1971, and he built a terrific career there. He was a member of Colonial's Strategic Council and assistant secretary to its board. He helped the company adapt its 200 parking facilities to the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act, drafted and negotiated hundreds of contracts over the years, and provided counsel in employment issues that affected Colonial's 1,000 employees. We extend our most heartfelt sympathies to Stan's family, as well as his Colonial Parking family. We know he will be sorely missed.
